About The 99

The 99 is service news for the San Joaquin Valley, from Stockton to Bakersfield, starting in Fresno. We cover the things that help people get through the week: free food and clinic days, bills and benefits, school closures, job fairs, rent help, cheap things to do, heat and air quality, and scam alerts.

Every story comes in English and Spanish, written in plain language, with a short Quick Read (Lo Básico) at the top and links to the original sources at the bottom.

Our non-political pledge

• We report what programs do, who qualifies, the dates and how to apply. We do not tell you what to think about them.
• We do not endorse candidates, parties or ballot measures, and we do not run political ads.
• Election coverage is limited to service information, such as deadlines and where to vote, from county elections offices.
• Sponsors never decide what we cover or how we cover it.

Nuestro compromiso

The 99 es un medio de noticias de servicio, sin partidos políticos. Explicamos los programas, quién califica, las fechas y cómo solicitar. No apoyamos candidatos ni partidos, y no publicamos anuncios políticos.
