The 99 ("we," "us") publishes service news at checkthe99.com. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, how it is used and your choices.

Information we collect

Information you give us. The site does not have accounts, sign-up forms or comment forms. If we add a newsletter, tips line or contact form, we will update this policy first.

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time of your visit. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure.

Fonts. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts. When they load, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Cookies. The 99 does not set cookies and does not run advertising or analytics trackers.

Advertising

The site does not show third-party ads and does not use affiliate links. If that changes, we will update this policy before it happens, including how to opt out of personalized ads.

Social media and links

We run The 99 pages on Facebook and Instagram. If you follow, message or comment on us there, that platform's privacy policy applies. Our stories link to other websites, such as government agencies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Children

The 99 is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your California privacy rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents may have the right to know what personal information is collected about them, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. The 99 does not sell or share personal information. We honor browser privacy signals such as Global Privacy Control where our tools support them.
